Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville
Grands Motets
Les Arts Florissants
William Christie
Recording date :
1997
I've missed
the anniversary of the death of Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville in 2012
(dead in 1772) but it's not too late to share some works of this neglected
composer of the Age of the Enlightenment. The Motets are very expressive and
have a real dramatic strength (listen to "Elevaverunt flumina", no.4). The Six Sonates en symphonies
op.3 blend Italian inspiration and French spirit. Enjoy them.

Enjoy this French music…
grand merci!
Many thanks for this one!
Funny; Christie always looks the same. I think he was born with white hair and wearing spectacles.
Ragazzi, è eccezionale!!!
Many thanks for this post.
Thanks for this fine album,
very much appreciated!
Another quite underrated composer - to me,
the more I'm curious to listen to
this album!
Greetings from Germany.
