That's a treat dear. Furtwangler is the top conductor of all times (I.N.H.O), and he delivered wonderfully Brahms works. What more to ask for a perfect post.? Thank you so much for another splendid sharing.

There was, a few years ago, a package that circulated in the web, that included the 4 Brahms Symphonies and Haydn Variations, conducted by Furtwangler, with no info, no covers, absolutely nude. I found some info in the Gramophone catalogue (mid 90s, somehow old edition). Very probably, they were the cds 1,2,3 of this set. I even played these recordings in early august, this summer!
:) :) :)

@classic
You're absolutely right. This 3CD set has been recently released by EMI, but still misses the amazing performance of the piano concerto (ahh!! Edwin Fischer is a little bit outdated, but what a feeling)
And I compared the sound of both releases. M&A (this one) sounds a little bit better (less noise reduction and other "digital" cleaning?)
@Ice
I fully agree, Furt is definitely THE greatest romantic and post-romantic conductor. Even Mozart sounds different (listen to the Don Giovanni I posted some times ago).
He is the only one able to deliver despair and hope at the same time, tension and peace. Beethoven's symphonies are really unsurpassed.
More Furt will follow : Beethoven's symphonies of course, Franck's symphony, ...

Let me say a great thank you for this incredible version of some of the greatest symphonic works by possible the greatest conductor of them all! Since the first note of the 1st symphony I knew I was listening to something very, very, very special. I haven't listened to the whole set yet, but am sure the feelings it will bring over will be those of a unique musical and spiritual experience. Thanks a lot!
thank you
Please, please!!!
