There is room in my increasingly capacious heart for lots of visions of Mahler. That includes the humanism and warmth of Barbirolli and Walter as well as the drivenness of Mitropolous. But I have to admit that Klemperer gives a God's eye view of this music. This was the interpretation of the Ninth that brought me back to Mahler in 1972 and that keeps him an important adjunct to my life. Thanks for making it accessible to all the thirsting ears in the blogosphere.
