Reviews :
BBC music magazine : September 2009
Gramophone Music Magazine : July 2009

“The adrenalin and excitement is real, and there’s lovely colouring from brass and wind.” The Times, 20th June 2009 ****

“Using forces identical in number to those in The Gabrieli Consort's St Matthew Passion, Minkowski delivers an elegant reading with as many reflective largos as lickety-spit allegros.” The Independent on Sunday, 14th June 2009

“Marc Minkowski chose his 10 international soloists - who combine to sing the choral sections - with infinite care. Their balance is superb, aided by his sensitive direction of the sublime Musiciens du Louvre who never overwhelm the vocal lines. Among many glorious moments the "Et Incarnatus est" and "Crucifixus" stand out as particular peaks of perfection” The Observer, 14th June 2009

“Minkowski’s Bach is less mannered than his Handel, but there is drama and brilliance in the singing and playing he encourages from his period-style forces. Highly collectable.” Sunday Times, 5th July 2009 ****

“...the shifting permutations of colours constantly take you by surprise. The end result is as much a celebration of the joy of music-making as a hymn to the glory of God. Wonderful and highly recommended.” The Guardian, 17th July 2009 *****

"Twentieth century scholarship has uncovered information about performances of individual movements of the Mass during the composer's lifetime indicating that, in spite of its length, Bach intended it to be a chamber piece for small vocal and instrumental ensembles... Whatever impact of massed voices that's lost here is more than compensated by the coherence of the small ensemble sound, which has a surprising grandeur at the moments where it is required... The sound is intimate and clean, allowing the vocal and instrumental details to emerge with clarity and brilliance. The CD would make a fine introduction to the Mass and should be of strong interest to listeners who already love it." -All Music Guide

DEAR ICE: Operas have been difficult for me to "enJOY" for the reason they for the most part are in a language I am unable to understand, so the music becomes my love and not the vocalists. SAD yes. IN THIS CASE the subject captures my heart immediately and after auditioning some of the pieces, TEARS of JOY became abundant and made the point clear, I MUST FIRST THANK THEE and then immediately download these foundational works as they are part of me, my heart, my heart of music. "You Know Me".

In this post, as in many others your Mediafire reports empty.
Plase check up.Rapidshare --for us without premiun--is a hell tour.

@Anonymous above - your post above is WRONG WRONG WRONG in so many respects:

1) The Mediafire links DO work, I just checked for you myself. You should have checked them yourself at least a few times before making a complaint.

2)Except in very rare cases caused by the filesharers, Ice's links are ALWAYS good and she takes great care about every detail of her posts.

3)Even without Mediafire, Rapidshare is not a "hell tour" for anyone, that is pure hyperbole. Out of the goodness of her heart, Ice has given you this beautiful music to listen to for free. In the worst case it would take you a little while to load the links from RS for free. BIG DEAL. If that is "a hell tour" for you, you must be totally spoiled and pathetic.

4)WHATEVER you think about any aspect of the post, this music is generously being delivered to you for FREE, out of pure kindness. Before ANYTHING else, you should say THANKS, and in the event of a problem, ask politely instead of whining and complaining. Your attitude makes music bloggers GIVE UP!

So now, Anonymous, think it over carefully, count your lucky stars someone like Ice exists, say THANKS, and download your free WORKING links to this wonderful music.

Thanks Ice. I have other recordings of Bach's B Minor mass but have read really good things about this one including Rho's comment.

Look forward to listening...

Ice, thanks for the chance to hear this (almost bought it recently, but Händel was on sale and he won -- this time!).

Technical notes: Mediafire worked fine. "Anonymous 1" and others: If a MF link gets stuck, try the equivalent RS link; Ice makes these files interchangeable.

Rho: Thanks for saying what had to be said.

The words of a true gentleman, R. Now I'm sorry I shouted at you! :-) It's just that some of us are upset about what happened with Leverkuhn in a similar situation, and I think we're all especially protective of Ice.

The only advice I can think of with Mediafire/RS is maybe try installing a free download manager like JDownloader.

I'm sure Ice will appreciate your words, and I hope you soon get to enjoy this beautiful music.

Hi Ice,
it's a MUST for me to join these many positive
letters of thanks.

I just found your great site - looking for this new recording by MINKOVSKI.

Compared to the similar recording by JUNGHÄNEL I prefer this collection offered here, 'cause for me it sounds nearer to Bach's conception of interpreting (his) music.

Thank you very much for sharing, all the best to you!
