Tatjana Vassiljeva - Dramatic Games ~ Oeuvres pour violoncelle solo de Chedrine, Dutilleux, Saariaho, Raskatov, Stroppa, Penderecki et Schnittke

Tatjana Vassiljeva - Dramatic Games ~ Oeuvres pour violoncelle solo de Shcehdrin, Dutilleux, Saariaho, Raskatov, Stroppa, Penderecki et Schnittke

Composer:  Henri Dutilleux,  Kaija Saariaho,  Krzysztof Penderecki,  Alfred Schnittke,  Rodion Shchedrin,
Alexander Raskatov,  Marco Stroppa

The Strad – July 2003

Tatjana Vassilieva delivers a technically impeccable account of the music. But as well as offering a four de force of virtuosity she brings insight and expression to the work. One must also marvel at her interpretations of other challenging material, in particular the effective Russian Fragments by Rodion Shchedrin, wher the varied effects range from folk-inspirid pizzicato sections to flurries of scalic passage work and lyrical incantations. Both Dutilleux’s Trois Strophes sur le nom de Sacher and Penderecki’s Per Slava are well establisced in the repertoire but again Vassilieva gives a benchmark rendition combining perception with complete technical facility.
