"All round this is a fine achievement and, I hasten to add, an indispensable addition to any Bach-lover's library. A project of these dimensions could hardly have been placed in more capable hands. The recorded sound, the documentation and, above all, the performances are first class." - Gramophone

H.I.F.v. Biber: Harmonia Artificioso-Ariosa: Diversi Mode Accordata - R. Goebel / Musica Antiqua Koln - 2CDs - 2004.

“ This album was nominated for a 2005 Grammy Award for "Best Small Ensemble Performance
Reinhard Goebel and his ensemble, Musica Antiqua Koln, have been pioneer advocates for Biber's music for almost 20 years. MAK's recording of Mensa Sonora set high standards for this composer at a time when few ensembles would take the risk. Now, widely accepted as important to the baroque repertory as Corelli, taken up by a range of esteemed performers such as John Holloway and Andrew Manze, Biber is commonly represented in the CD catalog and heard often on classical radio. ”

"One of the highpoints of Baroque instrumental music. MAK play these demanding works to the highest technical standard, and allow them to make their full sensual impact. Duncan Druce / Gramophone

"Anyone who remembers with irritation Reinhard Goebel's more extreme interpretations of the 1980s will be pleased to see that his take on period performances has calmed down considerably; and in any case, there is hardly a more exciting interpreter of Biber's chamber music alive today. Note in particular the excellent work for viola d'amore that ends this two-disc collection. Essential." (RA)Rick Anderson.
