Beethoven: Piano Sonatas - Emil Gilels - Box Set 9CDs - 1996

Beethoven: Piano Sonatas - Emil Gilels - Box Set 9CDs - 1996

"Emil Gilels needs no special advocate, but the Beethoven Sonatas set from DG dedicated to this master pianist is a marvellous reminder of his skills. It's not a complete sonatas box, since Gilels died before fininshing it, but there are treasures aplenty here. Indeed, it takes longer to hear than most complete sets since, as Rob Cowan notes, listening to it only once is not a realistic option. "Gramophone Editors Choice / April 2007
